Eclectic edwardian

Wanstead, Redbridge, London

A creative young family in East London was keen to make this grand Edwardian villa their own. With a love of books, Tiffany lamps and Radio 4, we were tasked to add warmth and personality. We started in the back reception, where floor to ceiling bookcases fitted with British-made wall-lights, create a simple library. In the main reception we commissioned steel and scaffold-board alcove shelves to house TV and stereo equipment. An Afghan rug, mid-century furniture and a chesterfield-style sofa sit happily with Tiffany lamps and a vintage murano-glass chandelier. The awkwardly-shaped breakfast/dining room required a bespoke table. Comfy chairs and pretty glass lights create a bright space for family meals, crafting and howework. The smallest room in the house had a dramatic makeover with wallpaper by House of Hackney.
